FAQs
Straight answers, no jargon.
The questions Barnsley customers ask Scott most — about boiler prices, servicing, safety certificates and how quickly he can get out to you.
How much does a new boiler cost in Barnsley?+
Most domestic combi boiler replacements in Barnsley land between £1,800 and £3,200 fitted, depending on the brand, output and whether pipework or flue routes need altering. Scott quotes a fixed price after seeing the job — no hidden extras added later.
How often should a boiler be serviced?+
Once a year. An annual service keeps your boiler safe and efficient, and almost every manufacturer requires it to keep the warranty valid. Scott sends a reminder when yours is due.
Are you Gas Safe registered?+
Yes. SJ Gas Solutions is Gas Safe registered and fully insured, and Scott is an Ideal accredited installer. You're welcome to check the ID card on the doorstep — always ask any engineer for it.
Which areas do you cover?+
Barnsley and the wider South Yorkshire area, including Wombwell, Penistone, Hoyland, Dodworth, Darton, Cudworth, Royston, Mapplewell, Worsbrough and Goldthorpe.
Do you do landlord gas safety certificates (CP12)?+
Yes. Landlord CP12 gas safety checks are carried out on all appliances, with the certificate issued digitally the same day.
Can you fix a boiler that's losing pressure or showing a fault code?+
Yes — heating repairs and fault diagnostics are day-to-day work. Give Scott the fault code when you call and he can usually tell you what's likely wrong before he arrives.
What is magna cleansing?+
Magnetic system cleansing circulates a filter and cleanser through your heating to pull out sludge and rust. It restores cold radiators, cuts running costs and protects a new boiler.
How quickly can you come out?+
Enquiries are usually answered the same day, and urgent no-heat or no-hot-water jobs are prioritised. Calling on 07766 042243 is always the fastest route.
Do you install smart thermostats?+
Yes — Hive, Nest and Tado supplied, installed and set up on your phone before Scott leaves.
How do I pay?+
Bank transfer or card on completion. For boiler installations a deposit covers the equipment, with the balance due once the job is signed off.
Still got a question?
Scott will happily talk it through on the phone before you commit to anything.
